About SEQUOIA
Sequoia is the one of the most sumptuous, safest, and state-of-the-art yachts in Indonesia. Sequoia’s owner spent four years overseeing her bespoke build, and the result is a 26m hand-built wooden schooner, custom-made to cruise the 18,000-island archipelago.
Her cruising grounds off West Papua, the Molucca and the Lesser Sunda Islands comprise the most biodiverse seas on planet earth. Some 1,000 species of fish cavort around 500 species of coral. Whale sharks are a common sight and manta rays are a daily presence. Sequoia is a PADI dive centre and for a good reason - three of the world’s top dive sights lie within sailing distance.
By combining timeless craftsmanship with the latest marine technology, including low-consumption engines, generators and sanitation systems, Sequoia can tiptoe through Indonesia with a minimal carbon footprint. Advanced materials promise silent running when under sail and single-use plastics have been eliminated throughout.
Sequoia's unique accommodation layout features three sumptuous cabins, all equipped with an HD flat screen television, Bluetooth speaker and a beautiful en suite bathroom. The modern yet timeless master suite is located on the sky deck, boasting an elegant teak and woven rattan king-size bed. The two guest cabins, the ‘Island Suite’ and ‘Ocean Suite’, can both be converted between twin and double arrangement and feature the intricate hand-crafted detailing as found throughout the boat.
There are generous social and lounging spaces onboard. The sky deck, which had a refit in 2018, offers 270-degree, elevated views of the most pristine oceans in the world and the beautiful skies from its cushioned sunpads. There is also a library room and an alfresco dining table for late breakfasts and relaxed lunches.
In ‘The Great Room’, an open-air style room located on the main deck, guests can open the teak-louvered doors to the ocean breeze or enclose themselves in for route planning, dining or conversation with family and friends round the large teak table, any time day or night.
Sequoia’s crew of ten is entirely Indonesian. The cruise manager, butler and dive master have intimate knowledge of every island, sight, or scuba reef. Equipped with speedboats and 9 full scuba diving sets, including 2 for children, Sequoia ensures an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Coral Triangle of Indonesia. Children are also warmly greeted with an extensive treasure chest of toys and games for their use, such as smaller paddleboards and kayaks.
The chef is particularly adept at sourcing fresh, local ingredients. His otak-otak fish-in-banana-leaf antipasti and prawn sambal are firm favourites. All diets are catered for and the wine cellar is well stocked with vintage wines from the Napa Valley and Burgundy.
Safe and ecologically conscious cruising were watchwords of the owner. Hand-picked navigation, propulsion and guardrail systems raise Sequoia to US Coast Guard safety standards - the only yacht in Indonesian waters with such a rating. She also conforms to EPA Tier 2 and Tier 3 emissions limits.
