Behind the Refit: Designer Insights with Laura Pomponi for Hana
As part of Hana’s remarkable transformation, Camper & Nicholsons spoke with internationally acclaimed designer Laura Pomponi, founder of Luxury Projects Studio, to discover the creative vision behind the refit.
Pomponi brings a distinctive blend of Italian flair, architectural precision, and emotional resonance to every project she touches. Her work on Hana is no exception, elevating the yacht’s ambiance to deliver a charter experience that feels both serene and sophisticated.
In this exclusive conversation, she shares the design philosophy that shaped Hana’s new look, the creative decisions behind key spaces, and what charter guests can expect from this floating sanctuary.
When you redesigned Hana, what was the one feature or design element you insisted on including, and why?
“Our focus was on transforming both the interiors and exterior guest spaces into a refined harmony of comfort, elegance, and modern sophistication. We approached the refit with great care, aiming to elevate the yacht’s overall liveability while preserving her timeless character. Every detail, from materials to spatial layout, was reimagined to enhance the guest experience and ensure Hana remains a standout charter vessel for years to come.” says Pomponi.
Luxury yacht design constantly evolves; how does Hana still feel timeless and relevant for today’s charter guests?
“Luxury Projects ensured that M/Y Hana stays at the forefront of the charter market by prioritising a sense of warmth, comfort, and timeless elegance in every design decision.
One key example is the Bridge Deck, which has been completely re-envisioned. The space now offers a seamless blend of relaxation and sociability: a large modular sofa, upholstered in soft, neutral tones and adorned with vibrant turquoise and patterned green cushions, sits beautifully against natural wood panelling.
Expansive windows bring in floods of natural light and uninterrupted views of the sea, while a custom-designed, organically shaped rug, inspired by the layered patterns of agate stone, anchors the room in shades of blue, teal, and gold. Metallic side tables and textured soft furnishings give the space depth and sophistication.
It’s a calm yet inspiring setting, and it extends naturally onto the aft terrace, reinforcing that sense of continuous indoor-outdoor living, which is so important on charter.”
If you could describe the experience of being on Hana in three words, what would they be, and how does the design achieve that feeling?
“LIVELY – COMFORTABLE – ELEGANT
That’s the emotional signature of Hana. Every corner of the yacht was designed to invite guests to unwind and enjoy the moment, but with a refined and upbeat energy that feels just right for the Mediterranean lifestyle. The materials, the spatial flow, and the use of colour and light all work together to support that tone.”
Which part of Hana is best enjoyed in summer, and what makes it the perfect setting for a Mediterranean charter?
“Without a doubt, the newly redesigned sundeck is the highlight. We added a sleek new bar, stylish loose furniture, and innovative shading solutions with smart sun awnings ; creating both sun-drenched and sheltered zones throughout the day. The palette and furnishings echo the rest of the yacht: elegant but relaxed, crisp yet welcoming. Whether you’re sipping a cocktail, lounging in the sun, or enjoying a casual lunch with a sea view, the sundeck truly captures the spirit of summer in the Med.” concluded Pomponi.
Hana is available for charter this summer in the South of France and Balearic Islands, offering guests a refined yachting experience in a completely refreshed setting, thanks to Laura Pomponi’s expert touch.
